What are Opioids?  They are a classification of drugs that fall in the class 2 or 3.  This drug changes the central nervous system or the peripheral nervous system in its patients.  This drug classification is highly addictive, has psychological affects and an array of additional side effects.

Roughly 21 to 29 percent of patients prescribed opioids for chronic pain misuse them.  Additionally, 8-12% develop an opioid use disorder.

Typically, a patient would be prescribed an opioid if they were experiencing extreme pain, commonly on- going low back pain.

Alternatives to the use of Opioids would be Chiropractic and Physical Therapy care.  Some states have implemented protocol requiring use of alternative treatment options before the patient can even be considered for an Opioid prescription.
